The annual Ethos Conference is a unique opportunity for bright students, leading teachers and inspiring academics to think hard about faith, learning and leadership. ​

The 2016 Ethos Conference on 16-17 August at St Andrew's College within the University of Sydney featured keynote addresses by MIT nuclear physicist Professor Ian Hutchinson on Faith, Knowledge and the Origins and Future of Science. Other features of the program included:

  • Student seminars on faith and fusion in philosophy, the arts, politics and science led by young academics
  • ​Workshops for teachers on teaching well in the knowledge economy
  • Walking tour of the University of Sydney with young Christian academics
  • Opportunities for students to interact with inspiring academics and for teachers to network and reflect
  • interactive panel discussion on how not to be ignorant


Other guest speakers included sociologist Dr Paul Tyson (UQ), educator Mr Paul Kidson (USYD), and philosopher Mr Tim Smartt (Notre Dame).
